Guitar great, Eric Clapton, is being sued for defamation by The Chronic Fatigue Society amid allegations that his lyric to the smash hit song, Lay Down Sally, “Lay down Sally come rest you in my arms” insinuates that the aforementioned woman is a sufferer from the debilitating illness and that Clapton is merely encouraging her to give in to the condition instead of urging her to get up and battle against it.

In a statement issued last night, the CFS said: “It’s bad enough that our members are suffering from perpetual tiredness without having people like Mr Clapton accusing them of being lazy and encouraging them to spend their time laying down all over the shop”

The Whitechapel Whelk tried to speak to somebody at the society last night but we were told that everybody was having a bit of a lie down and to try again in a day or two.
